Some of the questions we get most often here at Jam Radio:

Problems Streaming Jam Radio in IE7

In setting up this site and testing in different browsers, I came across a problem that some of you will likely have as well - streaming radio just doesn"t work if you use the combination of Windows Vista and Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.

This issue seems pretty widespread across sites similar to Jam Radio, but I have found a solution that seems to work for me. Follow these steps from the Internet Explorer window and it will work just fine:

  • Select - Tools > Internet Options > Programs
  • Under Internet Programs click "Set Programs"
  • Choose "Set Program Access and Computer Defaults
  • Select Custom
  • Scroll down to "Choose a Default Media Player"
  • Select Windows Media Player (or WinAmp, or iTunes, etc)
  • Done!

Why Can't I Download Individual Songs?

The official line is that part of the appeal of the live show is to experience the whole thing from start to finish. That and I haven't had time to add individual links to each mp3 file. :) If this is something that means a lot to you, feel free to drop me a line, and I might get around to it sooner.

I have a band - can you post our music?

The short answer is yes. Although we don't have a user-upload section, I am certainly willing to promote emerging talent. Send me an email (use the email link at the bottom of the page) about your band, with some tracks and I will take a listen. If I think our visitors would enjoy it, I will put it up no problem! There are a few additional considerations to this, but we will worry about them if you contact me about this.

I have some news - will you post it on Jam Radio?

Sure. We will post any relevant news items, whether you submit a full original article, or a press release. We do reserve the right to edit articles for content, length, and we do not guarantee that all submitted articles will be posted. We will post your name and provide a link to contact you with any articles you provide.

Will you add a link to my site?

If its content is relevant to Jam Radio's users, current and not adult-oriented, sure! Some restrictions apply, of course: I will not link to user pages of social networking sites, sites that use excessive advertising (in my opinion) or sites that violate sharing policies of groups listed on Jam Radio. (ie, paid downloads of bootlegs, etc.)

Isn't this music piracy?

No. Each band included in Jam Radio's archive is trade friendly, meaning they have a fan-friendly policy regarding the taping and/or trading of their live shows. Although most bands place restrictions on this policy, we take care to follow them. If you are using these for your own listening pleasure, or sharing them with friends, there are no legal implications. If you are going to do any more than that, or plan on hosting them on your own website, I suggest you read the band's policies very thoroughly. Policies can be found on the artists' respective pages within the Jam Radio concert archive.
